Temporary exhibition ‘The Sounds of the Sea.’ The singing of the whales is dedicated to the world of the cetaceans. The exhibition is open until the 30th of September in the Maritime Museum in Bilbao. It consists of the sculptures by the potter Cristina Ortiz and the works that the Russian photographer Masha Ru has done about the exhibited sculptures. The cooperation of these two artists immerses the viewer in an atmosphere full of nuances, with a focus that enriches the exhibit.

The dramatic link, that through progress, the human being establishes with nature, is the starting point of an exhibition that invites to reflection and awareness of the urgency of reviewing the wrong actions that harm the whole.

The work of sculpture, made by Cristina Ortiz, consists of 16 pieces of porcelain or stoneware worked with fibers fired at 1300 °, and to whom they have been incorporated low-temperature clays, oxides and, specifically, inks. The surfaces, heavily textured, have registered symbols and fragments of poems written expressly for the collection. Accompanying these sculptures, there are a series of photographs of Masha Ru (Russia) made from a single sculpture and several texts, in a proposal to develop the different readings of a single piece. There have been used old analog films with techniques of overlay images in one shot.
